Does Electron Deserve The Hate It Gets On Linux? #Linux #YouTube https://youtu.be/A1O96xIpMyg

honestly, I run a fair amount of flatpak / electron apps and I don't have an issue with it. They're some of my most stable apps.

For me the problem with electron is the fact developers don't bother updating the electron version even when vulnerabilities are publicly known. The chromium browser is a huge target for hackers given that nearly everyone uses a form of it, thus using an older form of it makes a hackers life easy.

This isn't an electron issue, but I think is born from from how easy electron is to use. I think it makes devs focus more on features than the basics of the app.

as a primarily web focused developer I can build advanced graphical applications in my preferred frontend framework and provide a truly reactive experience. Force me to do GTK or Qt and I'm lost. Without electron or tauri there would be a lot of interesting software that Linux would miss out on.
