I think the most important lesson anyone can learn from this is that it is kind of dumb to expect project lead developers to always manage the community.

Vaxry has indicted before that he doesn't particularly like managing the hyprland community. To me it just looks like it was thrust upon him and he didn't have the ability nor the motivation to manage it.

I'm not saying Vaxry is a bad or good person, just that he is much better at writing code than being the face of a project.

Changing somebody's handle just so you can make a common transbigoted jibe (which he may have just been repeating cause he had no clue how weighted it was) was, in short, rude as fuck. He should've just given an apology & this whole mess afterward would never have happened.

'Live and let live' is the right way. Not every community is for all and frankly shouldn't be. So if someone finds particular community atrocious the next one is just one mouse click away, no need to make a drama and force everyone to play with your rules. P.S. Banning/stop using the product because it's creator/community do not align with your worldview is lame at least and bigotry at most, imo.

it is kinda sad that today's society devolved to the state where using a certain piece of software makes people a "community". Having a chatroom for the fans of a software application developed by a single hobbyist seems to be a disaster waiting to happen.

I definitely wouldn't want to be responsible in moderating people's communications on the internet.

People, go outside, find friends in the neighborhood and play some soccer instead.
