I think it's broadly the same on Ubuntu but I wanted to understand the underlying basis and intended purposes anyway.
For example I might have been tempted to use the "staff" group for users in a workplace environment without being aware that it grants a priviledge a sysadmin may not have intended.

in reply to Brodie Robertson • • •i always thought it was somehow related to the mouse wheel. The group of people actually sitting in front of the PC and can use the wheel of the mouse.
