I wish you went into more detail as to why not all builds are reproducible. There is no magic happening inside the computer, one would think that the same code will always make the same binary. You gave a good example with date and time being used in code, what else makes the code compilation not reproducible? In detail.

I did looked into reproducible builds on alpine though!

And found that the package metadata is file system dependant...
