in reply to Brodie Robertson • • •The name-connected-to-the-previous rule came from Red Hat Linux (not RHEL) before Fedora. When it was "Fedora Core", the engineering (and naming) was all RH internal, with no community input or transparency. (Like RHEL before CentOS Stream.) Some history here:
