I’m probably preaching to the choir here, but now is a very important time for Puerto Ricans to recognize the privilege we have in the larger LatAm community, especially when we live in the mainland, and turn that awareness not into guilt or shame or anger about anyone trying to make you feel bad, but into pure unfiltered solidarity with all other vulnerable LatAm “cousins” who have to struggle more than we do with things like language and citizenship and all the things that stuff entails.
I look forward to my community showing up for each other in the coming years, and to show up for our cousins.
Maybe stay in the next couple of months by making some coquito and connecting with your LatAm neighbors. You know we love making coquito for others. #PuertoRico
