In the @servus page of the current issue of @versorgerin i tried to put together a few readings and thuoghts from the last weeks and months: tech sovereignty, decomputing, antifascist infrastrutture, self hosting.

~~ Support self-hosters, decompute MAGA-GAFAM ~~
Local server initiatives offer ways for »decomputing« from the big tech ideology and thereby build antifascist infrastructures to counter the global reactionary digitalization.

And yes, the 30% budget cut is for now also confirmed.

In 2025 servus receives 30% less funding from the Federal Chancellery compared to 2023 andò 2024, which means 15.000€ less.
No justification or future prospects has been yet communicated.

This is quite frustrating. it is a step back from the previous four years, which instead had a positive trend in fundings from the ministry after few years of stagnation.

Also, as a side effect, it nullifies the fresh air given by a long awaited 3-years funding rise from #linz #kultur for 2025-2027

This naturally has an impact on our annual program and raises questions about the upcoming issue of #AMRO.

We are in the process of adapting our annual program and developing a plan for the future. We will definitely keep informed the community.

So, In the meantime, support your local data center: if you have friends or acquaintances who are looking for a non-commercial, self-managed server and community for critical digital issues, we'd love to hear from you. Membership not only provides access to our community and infrastructure, but also helps to make our operation less dependent on fluctuating political will.
