I've voted (text 😀 ) because that's what I'd do for this example, but for e.g. ^^ or 😁 I'd not add a space. I feel that (text ^^) adds at least half the side of the face and is actually an enhancement, and (text 😁) is just unambiguous and the parenthesis next to it is neutral. For me 😀) has an intensified meaning and so it needs a separator

Is any of this just me? ^^

voted for "something else" because I always try to reword or pick a different emoticon when this comes up
