We tore half the boat apart today trying to find where the second breaker panel wires connect. Turns out they connected to the starting cables(!?), behind the wall(we had to remove the wall, and dismantle half of the chart-table to get to it). And in the end, it connected in the worse manner imaginable, to totally unrelated cables. Fucking classic.

We've been sailing aboard Pino for many years now, it's kind of a shock that it didn't spontaneously catch on fire.

must feel very satisfying to get all this stuff in good order

it's nice to know how everything works now, but you should see the terrific mess we did behind the camera.. ;)

okay, amended: it's going to feel very good when you know you finally have everything in good order

i would expect life on the boat will be better after your "rewrite" (perhaps it was only a "refactor") ... maybe not by a lot, but at least in the back of your mind

also, if the boat were to catastrophically fail, the lives of you & rek (?) and maybe others could be lost too soon!

(i thought someone should say this part out loud)

boat archeology! "Let us try to understand what this person was thinking when they did this."
in reply to Roy Greenhilt

that is the PERFECT name for what we're doing, boat archeology.

My understanding is bolt terminals are fairly common in industrial electrical systems -- especially vehicles.

Definitely seems sketch though. Sounds like a productive day!

we have a few drives are rekka's parents, and we do have some copies of the sites and things online, we can always retrieve those. It'd be bad if we sunk, and then the git repos went down, and that rekka's parents' basement would be flooded at the same time.. 🤔
