I am starting to find a process that I like: lose sketches on pencil, use thin paper to see through it and ink, iterate on the idea. This way there’s no pressure to not ruin the sketch, I can start over quickly or change methods. It’s sad I can’t properly scan layers due to the paper size, that would allow me to do several and reunite them digitally. Here are the sketches for yesterday’s inktober.

This process is kinda inspired by the manga artist Tsutomu Takahashi (he was the master of Tsutomu Nihei you may know for BLAME) that was demonstrated in this episode of Manben. I love his style and how he adapted his process to his own mental/personality needs. https://archive.org/details/s-3-manben/S3E3+2016+-+Takahashi+Tsutomu.mp4

it's fun to see him describe the flow of a picture like music, "it has got to have that beat!"

I love it! Of all the mangakas of this show it looks like he's the one who dared the most to adapt its workflow towards fun, and embrace the result as a consequence.

Read this somewhere a few days ago: “Art decorates space and music time” (kind of like that). Feels fitting that “they” overlap here and there.
