I made a personal website! Although my official background is in visual stuff, a lot of what's on the site is writing. Semi-long-form writing, like, short essays. The first piece of writing that I'm highlighting is the one most relevant to the people with whom I share this masto instance, because it's about my experience with Merveilles. I'd love to know your thoughts. I'll probably change the piece based on feedback I receive, rather than leaving it alone as an immutable object -- because writing is, for me, a way to start a conversation and learn.

I hope you don't mind if I boost one piece of writing at a time here on mastodon as the site gets going. Feel free to ignore my spam.

I've also added myself to (and have been granted entry to) the Merveilles/XXIIVV webring -- which may seem like a small thing but it is exciting to me!

I love to see the addition of media from the draft I had the chance of reading earlier! I hope that you do keep writing, and posting your writings too, are you familiar with the indieweb term POSSE?
indieweb.org/POSSE

Btw, I get this issue with the merv_webring video:

@neauoire familliar w all the concepts behind POSSE but had never heard the word/abbreviation, thanks. I should work on rss and other syndication.

Does this video play for you? If not I need a more universal codec. gregori.studio/media/mlogo.web…

@neauoire I posted a fallback .webm for the webring video - maybe that'll work. Spoiler - it's just a fast slide show of screenshots. But it's fun to see the variety.

I loved the reflection on collaboration. It brings up an excellent point about how little we’ve actually done that together in recent history. Given how much talent and experience is around here, I’m a bit surprised the last real community collaboration was Waiting for Horus. That section honestly caught me off guard. I hadn’t really thought about it that way before.

the last collaboration project was hollow tape(2025-10) 😀

@aleph between december adventure, jamurary and goblin week, it would be kind of intense to try to squeeze in another event, no?
in reply to Devine Lu Linvega

@neauoire For sure, I'm not suggesting adding another event to the calendar. I guess what I mean by collaboration is more that: It's rare that there are projects formed between community members, that spawn long term teams, and ships major releases, like releasing a polished game on Steam, for instance.

like something that would be a beyond an event/jam cycle.

Definitely not suggesting that it never happens, that would be silly considering Uxn, but I guess it would be cool to see more of it.

I think Horus was the last time I remember everyone discussing nuance, and having cute arguments about whether or not the color pallet is too bland, or whether nor not we need colors at all!

@aleph IT'S NOT BLAND! :bloat: I'm kidding, a bit. But yes, okay I get your sentiment, it is true it has been a while since I've seen community game stuff! We're overdue.

@neauoire THAT GAME LOOKED GREAT WITH HIGH CONTRAST AND YOU KNOW IT!

Yeah we should try something else for sure. Doesn't even have to be a game.
