@yngmar sure. you'll have to be fairly accurate with the splice to get the right length due to the turnbuckle's travel, and might have to pull the constructional stretch out to get it to reach, but it'll work just fine. looking forward to seeing pictures 😀
@chainik Leave the pricey Colligo deadeyes to the fancypants sailors, I just used stainless D-shackles for this.
My turnbuckles weren't in good condition, so I didn't re-use them and I immediately came to appreciate this, because the lashing gives a much greater adjustment length, useful because rope stretches and everything has a lot of give and it's hard to get the length exactly right.
If you run into this problem you can still switch to lashings though.
