Ten minutes of mental MacGyvering later: "wait, I completely ignored the core issue: the hotel should just give access to a kettle."
Which is basically a perfect micro-example of "don't trust tech people to solve societal issues, they find it more interesting to find convoluted solutions to the wrong problems", isn't it?
