Here a bit of a fun comparison for all of you:

A #PinebookPro compared to a state of the art notebook from 2002.

Of course, the Pinebook Pro is so much faster too. ?

PINE64
To be fair, this particular behemoth (Toshiba Satellite 1905-S277) was massive even by 2002 standards. But it wasn't *that* far out of the realm of normal...

I think I knew someone who had that very Toshiba laptop. Yes, technology has improved a lot since then.
in reply to PINE64

but the Pinebook Pro doesn't have cool external media playback buttons so you can use your laptop as a jam box...

...yet.

😉
in reply to PINE64

well it's 8 years old. It doesn't sound like a good competition to show the Pine is a current device of you need to compare to a dino. ?
in reply to Rakor

I believe you dropped a "1" there -- it's 18 years old!

Of course it's not a fair comparison. I just had these machines sitting next to each other and I noticed how comical the size difference is.
in reply to PINE64

your right, typing on the phone isn't fun all the time ?
Well, none the less I like your work and am waiting for my PinePhone to arrive. ?
in reply to PINE64

The old one has got harman/kardon speakers - great sound. ?
in reply to Steffen Voß

Are you sure about that? The speakers on mine are the worst I've heard on any laptop ever.

Maybe the previous owner blew them out or something...
in reply to PINE64

They were pretty good back than. And they are on the top and not the bottom
in reply to PINE64

would love to have that taller 4:3 screen space back tho :blobcatthinking2:
in reply to PINE64

But the notebook has more connectivity - it has USB, RS232, Parallel, a CD drive and possibly even a floppy drive!
in reply to Deadly Headshot

It does have a floppy drive... right next to the DVD drive. 2002 was a weird point in time for tech.

But it also weighs 8.3lb (3.8kg, or 3 whole #PinebookPro), and I'm not sure you want to carry that around with you every day. ?
in reply to PINE64

Beefier laptops also tend to have nicer keyboards...
in reply to Deadly Headshot

Go ahead and just put one of these in your backpack, then. ?
