As of today, we have started our transition to hosting all our online infrastructure on the #RockPro64 cluster!

Say hello to our new IRC server at irc.pine64.org!

Matrix homeserver and more are soon to come.

looking forward to seeing more about that cluster configuration ;)
in reply to PINE64

hopefully soon I can buy a RockPro64 NAS case using that cluster!
oh wait it's sold out!
in reply to PINE64

for any help/questions regarding the #matrix server setup and the bridges (which give a way better experience than the current relaybot setup), feel free to reach out to me or the team at @matrix
in reply to PINE64

I really, _really_ hope this means the current Matterbridge gets replaced for native Matrix bridges, which give a _way_ better experience on all sides of the conversation.

The plan is to use Synapse, but plans can change if the need arises.

O_o

Is that a 24 node?

And will you be bridging matrix and irc via the standard matrix bridges?
in reply to KemoNine

That is 24 nodes indeed -- and that is the smaller of our two clusters. ?

Depending on how much of a configuration nightmare it turns out to be, we may try to use the appservice bridges, or the somewhat-maligned Matterbridge may continue operation.
in reply to PINE64

Depends on the bridge nightmare wise. The IRC one seems to be not so painful but the XMPP one I never got working...

Why do you refer to matter bridge as somewhat-maligned? I have a feeling I missed something.
in reply to KemoNine

We have some people in the community with rather vocal opinions against Matterbridge, because of the fact that for most protocols, it doesn't do name spoofing and instead sends something like "[I] <username> example message" under the name of the bot.

No, it's that we will have an official Pine64 Matrix homeserver running on our RockPro64 cluster.
in reply to PINE64

This is awesome. How do you cluster these? Ansible, k8s, puppet, something else?
