Every time a new Raspberry Pi is released, there are mutterings around thermal control of the new board.

This time around, with the release of Raspberry #Pi5, we’re introducing two new official hardware solutions for cooling, priced at $5 and $10 respectively.

I'm waiting for the official NVME carrier board before I commit to buying one of these 😀

in my country Every single user should have that thing and installed something like #pihole to have any privacy .... #ISP sucks in #Poland .. They want to know everything 😁 So sad I have no money to get one on my home network 🙁

So jazzed to try this out. I ordered the active cooler, since I get a perverse thrill out of showing off exposed computer hardware to house guests

Plus which, it should run cooler under heavy load

This is pretty cool. I am really happy to see such a large performance improvement.

Are we at a point, where this can just be a general users computer? For everything other than gaming and complex creative work?

If so, I'll be excited if a Pi500 comes out, especially if there is some kind of ssd in the case to boot from.

I preordered both alongside the Pi 5 and all the rest for it - we’ll see what works best for the particular projects

Does the thermal control affect the on board Wi-Fi? I've had some heatsinks that attenuate the WiFi a lot on the Raspberry 4.

The #Pi5 is a game changer. more than it was the pi4. I think I might be able to replace my big fatty x86 server with a Pi5 if the PCIe Port is available and all my hardware does work such as TV card and a raid controller. But I think it will not that bad. Especially since @geerlingguy has made some impressive results on the pi4.
