Promo for a talk titled Community Labs as Mutual Aid for Scientists Without Lab Access

#ALT4u #CommunityBio

Ad card for Grove with a abstract, a bio, and a picture of danwchan that reads:

The tools of biotech are increasingly accessible both in terms of price and availability, but organizations that work to make lab infrastructure accessible either charge fees commensurate with initial investment or are exceedingly rare.

Biotech Without Borders is a community of volunteers that collectively maintains lab facilities in NYC to tinker with biotech tools and an online community for mutual learning and to find collaborators. We see our activities as mutual aid creating a low-cost entry point into biotech. Members come from diverse backgrounds and must cooperate to ensure the lab is usable for all, in doing so we form a community that supports each other’s work.
