Content warning: Promo for a talk titled Community Labs as Mutual Aid for Scientists Without Lab Access

This entry was edited (1 year ago)

Biotech Without Borders is a community of volunteers that collectively maintains lab facilities in NYC to tinker with biotech tools and an online community for mutual learning and to find collaborators. We see our activities as mutual aid creating a low-cost entry point into biotech. Members come from diverse backgrounds and must cooperate to ensure the lab is usable for all, in doing so we form a community that supports each other’s work.

Daniel Chan is a formally trained bench scientist who left academia to labour towards a decentralized, compassionate and creative system of DIYbio. He was a Global Community Biosummit Fellow in 2021. He is the President and a member of Biotech Without Borders, a nonprofit community biology lab in NYC.
