Image: David Madigan: The Circuit of Dún Laoghaire | the painting shows a view of Dún Laoghaire, seen from above and to the south and looking north across Dublin Bay towards Sutton; in the mid-distance we see the usual DL buildings – Lexicon, Royal Marine, National Maritime Museum … but the foreground, seamlessly blended in, consists almost entirely of the capacitors, resistors, etc. of a printed-circuit board; all of this is rendered in a painterly but also realistic style, with shades of blue the dominant colour • “Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is delighted to present an exhibition of new paintings and sculpture by Dave Madigan, Landscapes and Oddities, the artist’s first solo exhibition. Madigan was awarded the 2022 dlr Visual Art Commission Exhibition; this is funded by The Arts Council of Ireland and supported by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council. Landscapes and Oddities features new large-scale paintings, with wide vistas and aerial views of different landscapes…”
