University Stationery will close its doors Friday May 1, bringing to an end its 97-year run in Cambridge.

A Sad Passing to note (the owner died back in January and his longtime friend and employee for 25 years has been dealing with the wind down. The late owner's nephew was unable to find a buyer, and lives himself in Oregon and had no interest in continuing the business.

Piece by piece I have watched the Cambridge I move here for 29 years ago fade away, the neighborhood stores and people and institutions fade away or be forced out by greedy property developers or the long arm effect of the Trumpies of the world trying to break Cambridge with their policies. The true home of the original American Revolution and its descendents are being erased.
