I assume that is in false color given that it is in the infrared. Should I interpret white as reflecting many frequencies, purple as high frequencies and red as low frequencies? Or some other false color coding?

Saturn is known for its iconic rings.

And with Hubble's help, now we know that these rings are also heating the giant planet's upper atmosphere!

it’s the south east corner of crater lake in Oregon and it’s covered in snow (which is a welcome sight!)


Patricia O'Donnell, who worked as a chemist for NASA for 44 years (1954–1998), won the Exceptional Engineering Achievement Medal in 1991 for her work on nickel-hydrogen batteries. Her redesign of the electrodes improved the performance of the batteries by a factor of 10! … 🧵
