Trees improve our air & water. They reduce flooding & erosion, help address #climate change, conserve energy & create habitats for plants & animals. We’re fortunate to walk among them. #SharedPlanet

I miss the tress, where I live now there aren't many trees in the country (although there is a small forest on the south end of the city). I loved being among the trees growing up and living in the PNW, and I didn't realize how fortunate I was until moving away.

There is a song titled "We are trees," and the first verse goes like: "We are trees standing strong, rooted deep so long."

The song by Ty Defoe is from the suite "Songs of the Phoenix" (see e.g. https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/Broadway-Records-Releases-SONGS-OF-THE-PHOENIX-Featuring-Sondheim-Schwartz-Lippa-and-More-20220624).

Poorly paraphrasing: A society is great when wise people plant trees, whose shade they know they will never get to sit in.
