I'm guessing they won't ban access to Twitter. There are simply too any reasons, like it's an important info outlet for so many EU organisations.

What they are more likely do is to fine and/or ban EU advertisers from using the platform.

True - but has their servers any hope of being resized in posting to millions instead of thousands of followers? And where do the millions of instantlyTwitter dispossessed Twitterati sign up?

Probably best for all that the Titanic sinks slowly enough for those that want a better life to evacuate in an orderly manner.
