On Friday morning, I will defend my dissertation.

The research explores how congressional staffers make #science policy decisions at the national level. I used to work in the Senate, which inspired this journey into the social sciences.

(Friday is also the first day of my kids' Spring Break, so they'll be coming along which should be interesting).

For those curious about the topic, I share a bit about the research on my substack. More results will there soon https://sheril.substack.com/p/a-dissertation-on-democracy

Good luck! The best advice given me was "remember that no one in the room knows as much about your topic as you do."

Good luck! I was definitely very nervous when I defended, but given that you're basically a presentation professional, I'm guessing you'll do very well.

Good luck! Remember you know more than anyone in the room — you’re the expert — and if they’ve done their job properly, it should be an awesome discussion about your work among a group of academics.

Sounds like a interesting topic. I'm sure you'll knock it out of the park tomorrow morning--good luck!
