Considering setting up my own #Pixelfed instance.
I have been using Mastodon to occasionally post some of my #photography but I don't like how it is mixed up with my other non-photography content. It would like to have a space dedicated to photography.

There seems to be a very high concentration on a few Pixelfed instances anyway so I guess it won't hurt to add anothe one?

Any followers that are using Pixelfed or interested in joining?

Would a featured hashtag on your profile not take care of that?

@Gargron maybe I'm missing something but as a third party if I wanted to easily view someone's photography on Mastodon, relying on tags, I'm not sure how I would do that. Their profile's media tab doesn't seem to have any granularity for that. That's at least in part why I keep a separate Pixelfed profile.

@Affekt Check my profile! On the sidebar you'll see #filmphotography. Click that, and it's all my photo posts. You set this up from your profile settings.

@Gargron @Affekt I feel stupid for never noticing that feature before, I do not think the bottom right is a very visible place for it, however I really like this feature!

@ashqinmoe @Gargron is that only visible in the Mastodon app? I didn't see the equivalent in the mobile webpage (although I miss stuff easily)
in reply to Jake

@Affekt @Gargron I'm using the website, if you go to the profile of someone that configured the hashtags, the side bar has all the menu options, look all the way down on the bottom and you will see featured hashtags.

@ashqinmoe @Affekt I'm afraid this information may currently be hidden when you're on a small screen that doesn't have the sidebar. Going to bring it up with our designer!

@Gargron @ashqinmoe thanks, I'm almost exclusively on mobile for social media so when features don't carry across the various presentations they're easy for me to miss.

@Gargron That is indeed an option worth considering, thanks for the hint!

What I find particularly appealing with Pixelfed is the option to create collections and a portfolio view. I could replace that by implementing my own presentation layer though...
