As an occasional journalist, I just love the way Ed Yong closes his latest OpEd at NYTs & couldn’t agree more. nytimes.com/2023/12/11/opinion… #GiftArticle #writing #journalism

I’m glad he’s speaking up. There are far too many educated people who still think that long Cove it is nothing and getting Covid repeatedly. It’s no big deal.

Ed Yong was one of the best reporters early on as the covid crisis was unfolding. Clear-headed, early-on thinking and consolidating many emerging observations from disparate sources.

He's still one of the greats.

This is so true - and both a blessing and a curse. Politically, the current brand of right-wing extremists (not just in the US) would still be a fringe anomaly in some dark and lonely corner of the internet, if journalists back then hadn't felt that they're a curiosity that needed to be reported on?
