I started using Linux by choosing to use Linux instead of Win11.

It won't. Prior to 8, despite the fact it was proprietary, Windows was pretty great. Now, it's an anti-consumer, data- and soul-sucking pile of trash. Go FOSS.

still rocking win 7. No problems at all and no shity update that i don’t need!

Same happened with XP when 7 arrived, people just can't stand the slightest change in their habits...

Haha, how cruel of you to laugh at someone's misery 😂 (wait, I am going to hell with you)

But yeah, Linux is just not free but also gives us a choice to keep using our BIOS motherboards instead of throwing them in junk 🥲

Similar vibes to being forced onto KDE Plasma, which I then went to Gnome only for them to do the same thing forcing everyone onto Gnome 3.

It's hard to find a functional and customizable desktop environment in Linux that won't throw it all away for the next iteration of eye candy.

that is the result when you only is handed a product that ain't made for the end user...

Microsoft is no longer an OS developer company. It‘s an AI and Cloud-Provider company. And as long as they make money with these services, Windows will more and more trans-/malform into a sales platform, advertising for their cloud shit.

Mayhap, but changing from Win 7 to 10 didn't force me to buy a new computer. So this Time I will change from win 10 to linux.

@dawid27 The NVIDIA driver situation is getting better! Don't give up on Linux yet. 😄

It's the same with Windows as with Republican presidents: Every new one makes the old one look good by comparison.
in reply to It's FOSS

Nope, I already have Fedora installed to replace Windows.
Windows 10 was 'ugly' compared to W7, Windows 11 is spyware and malware straight away.

I do not want to see ads in my paid OS.

I do not want copilot

I do not want recall

@dawid27 I haven't experienced any Nvidia driver issues that's windows didn't also have (the occasional boot where drivers aren't loaded so reboot to fix)

But that hasn't happened since my last distro upgrade 🤔 maybe it's fixed

in reply to It's FOSS

Yeah.. No.

My primary is Linux Mint.
My secondary (dual boot) is Windows 7.

The next full upgrade will probably see Windows removed entirely and utilize the entirety of my storage on a btrfs partition. I'm only debating if I should actually split the storage so apps and data get compressed but media doesn't waste the CPU cycles on it.

I still use Windows 7. As for any security vulnerabilities it may have, I keep it behind a hardware firewall at all times and hit the emergency power switch if Firefox attempts any sort of drive-by download. Only reason I would use Windows 11 is if there's some specific piece of proprietary Windows-only software that I wanted to use (like if I wanted to use Ableton for my music instead of just a clunky MIDI sequencer).
