We coined a new term on today's ramble, after a "beaverful" morning, seeing more than a dozen of our favorite critters. They were in all their habitat niches, in the lake, the creek, the marshy kettles. They did some nice posing. Also noticed new green marsh grass growth, it's been a mild winter. #Hiking #AltText
A gray-muzzled beaver, fairly large and presumably an older one, raises its head while sitting in a wetlands pothole, or "kettle," its nose in the air and mouth open, baring its orange lower chewing teeth. It is surrounded by yellowed marsh grass.
The adult beaver in the kettle sits up in the marsh grass looking pensive, its front paws held up to its chest. It' i brown with wet fur, grayish in the face, its nose big and black, eyes small and one ear showing cup-shaped.
A large adult beaver sits on the submerged portion of a log on a lake shoreline, holding in its paws a lily pad root it is chewing on. It is particularly light brown in the face and head, almost blond.
A small beaver floating in a creek side channel amongst brown vegetation. You can see only one side of it head, with the camera looking right into its round black ear. This is the cute small beaver we call Little Whittle.
