Stadia was good tech that people were unwilling to invest in because of Google's track record of killing products
in reply to Tom Larrow

@TomLarrow not entirely true. Tech was good yes but the business model is what put most people off.
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

@TomLarrow 100% this. It needed a free tier, at something like 480p or 360p, to get more people using it. With your free plan you get access to a new game every week, and you can subscribe to keep playing that game, access more games, and get better video quality. It was a pure business failure. It did nothing to shake up the market.

is there a way to do this for the Luna controller I just have collecting dust because I don't use the program? <_<
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

Yay! I just did it using Microsoft Edge on Windows 11 and was smooth and easy to do. Great success.
in reply to popey

@popey is the Stadia controller *good*? Like, I'm sure it's perfectly decent and well built, but would it worth me procuring one to use as my main gamepad on Linux?
in reply to omglinux.com

@omglinux @popey itโ€™s genuinely lovely but I wouldnโ€™t buy one now, nothing wrong with the latest generation xbox controller
in reply to omglinux.com

@omglinux @popey yeah but you can buy a battery pack for it, i did and works great but if you wanna spend a bit more the 8bitdo ultimate wireless is great too
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

Ooh, I hadn't heard of that! That looks right up my sidewalk ๐Ÿ‘Œ (plus a charging dock so it sits nicely on the desk). Thanks Liam, gonna have to look in to that - my current gamepad is a 8BitDo SN30 Pro and the quality is ace but I'm starting to miss the "full hand" feeling modern controllers like the Stadia/Xbox controller offer.
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

@omglinux @popey I normally wouldn't praise Microsoft for doing something But NGL, I have to give them points for not just making the batteries easy to replace, but also support a standardized battery type as well.

Not working in arch linux using chrome. :/ Get the same close tab messages you got, and I don't have an old windows install anywhere.
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

unlocked all four of my controllers. Had some issues unlocking them under Linux but on Windows went smoothly
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

I threw away my stadia controller about a month ago, because I thought it was going to be bricked...
in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

just flashed mine on fedora, worked flawlessly only needing to use chrome was annoying. u-dev rule is understandable, but might be problematic for some users.

I managed to update my Stadia controller to use bluetooth, but I can not for the life of me make it work under Steam. I assume I might need to do something to map the controller correctly, but for instance playing ARK I could not get the aiming to work, although I could move around using the controller.
