We learned about James Cook's cook on board of his ship, discovering sauerkraut' s benefits against scurvy in 18th C.

The Dongui Bogam is a 15th C compilation of medical books collected from all over Asia by envoys from Joseon/Korea . Regarded as the oldest encyclopedie.
One of the books explains these benefits in detail , written in 2th C in Korea.
