Persian mathematician Muḥammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī was born ~780. He not only revolutionized algebra, but his contributions in mathematics, astronomy & geography have been central to hundreds of years of scientific advances.

what do you think the over/under is one could troll the legislatures in Texas, Florida, et all to ban the teaching of that evil, foreign al gebra but just adding that one little space?

I owe so very much to this man. Understanding what he discovered is responsible for most of my career in Pharmaceuticals and Biotech. An application of what he found paid for my first house.

In college I was told the algebra was named after someone called al-Jabr. Is that just a different transliteration of the same name?
