Are you an introvert?

Maybe in purely social settings I'm an introvert...because it can be so uninteresting to me.

Yesterday I had a productive hour-long meeting with the Alamogordo city manager to discuss gathering data, from various offices, to try and make a financial data map like the ones shown here:

I then spoke to folks in other offices to lay more groundwork.

That interested me, and I was animated and engaged.

Put me in a room where no new ideas are percolating and I'm getting bored or walking out the door.

Maybe I'm an information/learning seeker?

Definitely. Spent 5 days with family, 2 weeks ago, being social. It was great fun, but (as so often) it was way more than I can handle. Did it anyway because I only see them once every couple of years. The result? A good time, most of the time, and 2 days on the couch, knock-out with the curtains closed, after they left. Even though the weather changed and became sunny and warm, I couldn't get outside for anything longer than a 10 minute grocery trip. Totally drained.

i WISH I could just go POOF instead of getting more irrationally miserable the longer I can't get away.

Precisely. I love people, but they’re exhausting. Energy allocation is key for me, and I’m highly discerning when it comes to who gets how much of my energy. Also: I’m skilled at interacting with people, but it’s exceedingly depleting. Afterwards, I require hours of solitude to recharge/recover. Heaven for me is being alone parallel w someone else. Intersecting orbits, but distinct.

I think I might be in this 🤔 it's not someting I had really thought of before, but it might help me understand myself better.
Not really sure what to make of it yet, but perhaps it might get me somewhere.

So - thanks, I guess 🙏

When the battery is low my allergy comes out 😂 Recharging my battery by hugging/cuddling my family is my favourite time above anything else 🥰

I am an introvert, and I always wondered what would happen when I reached the end of my social reserves.

This is me, I do a job where I talk to hundreds of people a day, so when I quit, I just want to peace myself out of people.

my friends call that my "homing beacon", and when it goes off I have to go home, no matter where I am or what I'm doing.
