I haven't tried Arch, but Mint is so ridiculously easy

not for me ... since arch linux i barely have to tinker around to get the system running after an update - on debian/ubuntu it happened almost every time a major update came that i had to reinstall the whole system ... is many years ago though, could be better now 😀 for me, arch is usually absolutely stable - update, probably reboot due to core-updates, do work... 🙂

Or use #Manjaro without mixing it with aur packages.
Will be fine. Try it.

That's what I love about arch. Work is done on Debian

Both the left and right sides of the bus may be populated with many other examples, come on 😁
And in the end both sides do serve a purpose, for different people.
It's the one-size-must-fit-them-all approach spoiling people, not an embarrassment of riches.

Mint works fine for me but I did have tinker quite a lot to get the look and feel I need.

After chatting with someone who went into the deep end with Arch, I can confidently disagree with the idea of this image. I, for one, don't want to deal with Arch, but if you are technically inclined, tinker with software constantly, it seems to be a match made in heaven. I, for one, like the simplicity of Mint. So, I guess each option can make someone's day just a little happier. Let's just appreciate neither of them are using the M$ OS. Brothers in arms. 👏

only if the arch user doesn't know what he's doing.

Gave up on Arch because this was true 10 years ago (the wiki was and still is valuable for Thinkpad users). Mint has "just worked" for me ever since.

I think you can swap the people around and this still works
in reply to It's FOSS

Absolutely not! I am an arch user and I haven't needed to troubleshoot my computer for years now. I troubleshoot my ubuntu server after almost every update. Altough I've necer used Mint.

I used Arch as a daily driver and did "casual" things on it. I did run into issues more often but mostly it worked just fine.

Once my Linux tinkering hyperfixation wore off I installed EndeavourOS with the LTS kernel instead.

God i already flamed Arch users ķas a joke) on X following Pewdiepie installation of Arch, I shouldn't repost this one 😄

I installed Arch because it was the "final Linux boss" for me. I didn't expect to use it every day for normal activities, because I also heard that it is an unstable system. I also have Fedora and Windows. But it turned out that Arch is as stable as any other Linux... at least for now

@Pioter_K Arch can provide a stable experience if you set it all up correctly. 😄

Dear mastodon.social admins, kindly ban this account for speaking too much truth

Not in my experience, @CachyOS / Arch Linux has been rather smooth quite honestly.

@chrishuck For many years I used the #Knoppix’s Live CDs for fixing/rescuing stuff from non-bootable/loaded with viruses/bloated, etc. Windows PCs (you probably guessed that I’m the “family IT guy”). When Knoppix updates stopped in 2021, I started looking for a replacement. Since I don’t have direct access to most of these PCs, I need something that is “plug-and-play” with minimum instructions via FaceTime/Skype, etc. (1/2)

my girlfriend uses :linuxmint:, I'm in the :arch_linux: club (btw). We both agree, but I'm also on the sunny side :ChicoRi:
