On dismantling science, I would personally like to thank all the apologists for religion. You can pretend that you're not fundamentalist crazy, but you make it safe for it by providing the cover they need for their authoritarian agenda....

I do believe it is on purpose, not just because we live in an authoritarian country where intelligence and knowledge are dangerous for those who hold power, but because it serves Trump's external masters. I think Putin has been working to draw the US down to or below its level and he has been working at it for a very long time, and favorable conditions are finally in-place.
