Mention of Elon Musk/Paypaltine and Twitter

The newest Twitter status symbol is who will lose their blue check first. Some of us never had one and remain pure.

"Twitter strikes New York Timesโ€™ verified badge on Elon Muskโ€™s orders

Twitter removed the โ€œverifiedโ€ badge from the New York Timesโ€™ main account on Sunday, a move that billionaire owner Elon Musk pushed for overnight after learning that the news organization would not pay for its Twitter Blue service.

The move continues Muskโ€™s years-long grudge against U.S. journalists who have reported critically on him, and it will raise the risks of impersonation. It also contradicts an internal plan, first reported by the Times on Thursday, to keep the badges on for the 10,000 most-followed organizations, regardless of whether they paid."

Reputable journalists and news organizations would be wise to just abandon Twitter. This will hasten its eventual failure. At this point, Twitter's nothing more than a website for spreading and amplifying hate and disinformation.
