Happy 19th birthday, Linux Mint! 🥳🎂

Drop a 💚 if Mint was your first distro!

My first #Linux distro was RedHat 2 or 3 in the late '90s.

My next one will probably be #LinuxMint

The distro Mint was based on didn't even exist when I started using Linux. Thanks for making me feel over the hill.

Linux Mint is like a gateway drug, you try it once when you were exploring in highschool, and before you realize it you are a full time Linux user...

I stopped distro hopping when Linux Mint came out. Audio and other media technology just worked out of the box. No stupid defaults like 6pt fonts and the calendar starts on Monday. The default apps were apps that I would use instead of 12 different text editors.

Happy Birthday Linux Mint!

I thought it was older, to be honest. Thought a friend in Uni was running it, but I left uni (and the country) back in 2004. Were there betas in circulation in say 2002-2003?

can't heart. I use Linux for 25 years already starting with Suse. I switched distros some times, yes, including Mint.

Mint was my daily driver for a bit after I switched off Solus years back. I have fond memories of it - happy to see it's still popular.

💚 Well technically #LinuxMint wasn’t my first Linux distro (that honor belongs to Yellow Dog Linux), but it was the first the convinced me Linux could become my daily driver.

Hardly the first distro I used, but definitely the most used distro for me. If you use it regularly, please consider donating.

The first Linux distros that I used at work were Red Hat and SuSE in the late 90s & early 2000s. It was just running shell scripts on the command line, and were not the main systems that I used. At home, my first was Ubuntu 7.04 which did not work well on the laptop I had, and then Xubuntu 8.04 which was my real introduction to Linux and I used occasionally for about 2 years.

@natofe it was not my first. But, it has become my favourite desktop Linux distro 💚

While it wasn't my first, it was the one I picked after I tried a few.
I remember Slax 5 Live (KillBill Edition) was my first contact with linux, and Ubuntu was the first one I installed.
