I am extremely disappointed, if sadly unsurprised, to learn that jj skolnik, per this post on Bluesky, has been laid off by #Bandcamp. An excellent editor and union organizer/supporter, and the sale of Bandcamp to #Songtradr is clearly already bearing bitter fruit.

Between the quality of people I had known to work there and Bandcamp United, I looked at Bandcamp as a potential place I'd like to work. Obviously not anymore, and news of these layoffs confirm, to me, what the sale is going to mean for Bandcamp.

I'm sad to hear this news and I sincerely wish you the best.

my coworkers who got offers are great people, committed to artists and fans.

And our union has been lobbying Songtradr's CEO to recognize the bargaining unit going forward.

I am happy to hear some good news. The initial news of the layoffs made me angry because I've heard of and followed some great people working there.
Bandcamp has been so important for small to medium artists and I would rather them succeed than fail.

I can only imagine how difficult it is for the union to bargain with these people.
