I’m afraid most people don’t realize it’s in so many snack foods. And majority of fun Japanese snacks contain PalmOil, which needs to change, imho.

Well, many of the food ingredients are probably imported for manufacturing use in Japan. It’s their labeling law, that’s the problem. I’m in the US where oils in ingredients must be clearly written on the packages, but they’re not in JPN (as far as I know). But a handful of conscientious people there know and are raising awareness about PalmOil (which I saw on twitter a few years ago).
