completely agree though

in reply to Brodie Robertson • • •@BrodieOnLinux What’s pointless is that attitude and instant “disapproval” of it as if it’s a serious matter or means anything.
You are trying to get ahead of the supposed “hate mail” and harassment of it as you give a shit and play the smartass, when in reality it’s yet another reactionary lip service masquerading as “apolitical” under the disguise of “caring for the project and the impact”
Jordan Petridis
in reply to Jordan Petridis • • •@BrodieOnLinux Newsflash, this says a lot more about the people making a fuss about it than who is depicted in the mockup.
The designers and people involved in the project are humans, not apolitical husks.
Politics are part of their everyday lives, work and shape the software that ends up in your desktop.
This is plain dehumanization on the basis of “omg this is not appropriate or not the time for it” and it’s done to serve a specific purpose, willingly or not.
Disgusting.

in reply to TheEvilSkeleton • • •@TheEvilSkeleton It was an intentionally inflammatory example, the point I was getting at was it's not seen as issue if you're someone that likes the person, but there are a lot of people out there who don't and all including them does is makes you a target for needless harassment.

somehow I think not having this would have been even worse for me going through the comments - with this there is at least some distraction 😀
and as far as I've read up on the people I'm glad you kept it at marx - could have been worse

Unknown parent • • •@monster @BrodieOnLinux @alatiera right? and specially knowing where a lot of your fanbase stands politically (I've been on Brodie's Matrix community for less than a week and I know exactly where they stand) weirdly focusing on the Marx thing is almost a dogwhistle for the trolls and right-wingers there to go abusing the devs
If the intention was to avoid having people harassing the devs, pointing this out is absolutely having the opposite effect
