Serious question: Do you guys think it's worth it making a tumblr nowadays?

What else am I going to use to share my work? Facebook? Hell naw. Insta? Twitter? Deviantart?
I feel like other than Tumblr and Pinterest there's not much of a choice.

being someone who used deviantart nearly 20 years ago, the state of the site today seems like a joke and seems to be loaded down with fetish art. they're also in bed with AI art which is controversial.

it overcomplicates it that it is not-so-slowly imploding, but twitter has always seemed to me to be the easiest place for an artist to find an audience. but ultimately i just feel it's a matter of time before that audience coalesces on a different platform

@angelar yeah, I've heard about DA's drama while I was making a new account after 15 out.

Twitter is also on dead-man walking atm. Best case scenario Musk will admit he's a dumbass and let an actual engineer take care of things.
The likely scenario is that it'll very slowlyshrivel out like every facebook owned platform.

Anyways, I'm not into making tiktoks and I'm not a brand that can buy for sponsor space so, there's not many options atm.

TikTok absolutely would be overbearing for artists, it's for "content creators" and it's audience is largely those who consume said content. To try to get attention you'd have to be constantly doing things that aren't art.

@angelar I don't even consider tik tok a possibility for visual artists at least.

I want to go back to youtube by january, but it will be more of a production diary, show and tell kind of thing than anything else.
