dont get me wrong I love captions and use them on everything I watch. but I'd much rather download an srt file than have AI try to guess the words for me. its a sad day when even VLC has fallen into the AI trap. I've been using VLC since I was five(not joking) its always been my staple. it had never failed me. but now I guess I'll have to find something else. VLC didn't need AI it was great just as it was.

os/2 had realtime speech recognition 25+ yrs ago and worked well on Pentium2 333MHz machine with 64 Mb of RAM. So, I strongly doubt @videolan 's speech2txt is using a lot of resources.
