Hey Devine, Vimeo does do auto-captioning but we've disabled it because it's such poor quality. Abner has had captions written for some videos, though, so I'll check if he means to do this for these ones, and let him know you'd like a textual copy.

@miblo yep! that's the right page for it. It's quite a poorly documented project. It's cool that you went around looking for all the different things I mentioned. I was wondering who collected these annotations, some of that stuff is kind of obscure.

@miblo if Abner doesn't have textual transcript @rek might be able to do it. There has been a lot of attention to this talk and we think it might be well worth the trouble to write it by hand otherwise. Let us know what he says

tho your talk reminds me to keep suspicious of these cloud tools & notice the tradeoffs 😀

Just reading this article https://www.theverge.com/2022/2/16/22937766/go-read-this-otter-ai-transcription-data-privacy-report & noticing how much the networks I work with have become reliant on auto transcription - particularly for transcribing conversations with cultural workers & human rights activists.

This journalist’s Otter.ai scare is a reminder that cloud transcription isn’t completely private

A report from Politico serves as a reminder that while cloud tools can make difficult or time-intensive tasks easy, once you upload data to the internet you can't know for sure that it’s private.

@kategenevieve @rek I've made a copy of the content. I had never used something like this, we were ready to doing it by hand, and looking at the transcript, it'll have to be heavily edited anyways.

I hope covid doesn't kick your butt too much, feel better 😀
