UPT looks like an interesting tool if you do not care about installing different package types on your system like APT, Flatpaks, or SNAP side-by-side. Unfortunately, I did not see AppImage or PIP on the list of supported package types.

But what if you just want to install Flatpaks from Flathub? Seems easier to just stick with the "flatpak" command.

Maybe my memory is deceiving me, but wasn't there the same attempt back in 2006 with a fork sometime around 2008? I don't remember the name, but it was supposed to do the same thing. And it ended, if memory serves, on something like dependency hell.....
In any case, I agree with Keep It Simple Stupid.

The fundamental reason is that the libraries of each distribution are different, which leads to different packages (The package names are also different.).
