#uxn folks:

Just FYI, it's a bit old, but I found that someone has had limited success porting SDL over to PPC Macintosh:

In an alternate universe where I have unlimited free time, it would be a dream of mine to get uxn running on a 68k mac. It would feel very full-circle. XD

(My skills aren't anywhere close to that yet, though, so don't get your hopes up on my account, lol)

@neauoire

Oh, that would be so beautiful, and really in-line with Classic Mac programming heritage.

You'd have to learn 68k assembly, though, for optimizations.

I haven't tried any of the tools of the last twenty years for Pascal, but back in the 90s, Pascal compilers were quite poor at optimizations.

It was still COMPILED, just not nearly as tight as C.

Have you thought about starting the port using a mini vMac VM?

That's how i get my nostalgia kick these days. 😁

@neauoire

Oh sick! Is it posted somewhere? I didn't see any mention of classic Macs as a target platform for #uxn online.

@neauoire Couldn't one program the 68000-based Macs in assembler?

Side note: IIRC the Pascal compiler was developed at Reed College in Portland, OR and was called "Rascal".

@AlgoCompSynth if I wrote one myself, I think I'd probably just use THINK Pascal.

It's fast enough to do 3d programs with.

@neauoire I'm going hard-core for my next project - zeptoforth on the Raspberry Pi Pico. Premature optimization may be the root of all evil but it's a real fun kind of evil! 😈
