If the name ends in "Server", probably don't use it as a desktop. Ubuntu Server, Fedora Server, etc. Server distros are NOT just minimal distros, they're server-oriented. If you want a minimal base to build from, look for a netinstaller or bootstrapping utility.

wrong question. As i xubuntu user i do not use any other distro, at least until xubuntu works, because … it works. I even do not tried (in this decade) no other distro.
How can i answer the question?
I do not use any distro except xubuntu?
Is that somehow useful in any meaning way? 🧐

Nix, Arch, Gentoo... all the distro's that require really in-depth knowledge of Linux, modules and loads of packages. I am a power user not a kernel developer. I develop in Java. That is a vast eco system to learn and to learn C and it's eco system next to that is just too much. Linux is the greatest OS for software development (of any kind) but I keep being a user on it.

@itsfoss: I don't know why, but I had bad experience with Ubuntu. Don't liked needing to add repositories to get newer version of programs. Behavior of versions affected the usability of my computer. So I do not use Ubuntu at all.
Been on Arch based system for well over a year without any problems other than what I mess up.

I do not understand (beside oft some special needs speaking for special distros) why there should be a distro I would not use for desktop. But I prefere to not use anything with systemd.

Gentoo, it's probably not all that complex and I could learn it, but I don't find all that compiling time practical for a desktop daily driver.

For many years I used #Xubuntu.

For 2 years i was on #PeppermintOS

By 1 year I use #ZorinOS (which I just tested before) and I am really happy with.

I will not use #ubuntu, as I don't get #gnome. Note: I use #xubuntu, as I do get #xfce.

Unpopular opinion but unless you have a legitimate need for a GUI, Raspbian shouldn't be used with one
