Webb — constantly raising the (Orion) Bar for us all.

Here’s a closer look (bottom right) at the star system where methyl cation was found. Its planet-forming disk was bombarded with UV radiation from nearby young stars, radiation typically expected to destroy complex carbon molecules.

Hello. Thank you for the great explanation, and photo 😀 I've been wondering for years what's the reason behind the distinct colors separation. I actually thought it was due to a difference in air stratification caused by temp/humidity. Is my photo, taken above the Amazonas in 2004, a Belt of Venus shot?
in reply to (moving) APOD

As the Sun rises in the east or sets in the west, sunlight reflects off the dense atmosphere in an effect called back-scattering, which creates a pink band of light on the opposite horizon to the Sun, above the anti-solar point. This pink band is the Belt of Venus.

Nice pic posted btw. ❤️

But in this picture it's south at the top and north at the bottom 😯🙄. Usually on a map, north is at the top and south is at the bottom. Optimal would be to rotate the picture 180° 🤷‍♂️.

The image is too closely cropped to judge it's size (need to see planet edge), but judging by the curvature compared to other photos of #Jupiter, that lightning bolt is roughly half the size of the planet Earth. Whoa! 😵
