Look at this big chunky weirdo. 🪨 I love it.

I spotted this boulder from a distance and have come in for a closer look. It’s harder than most, with an odd shape and makeup. #SamplingMars could be a challenge here, but I’m up for it!

I’ve been #SamplingMars for nearly two years, but I’ll always remember “Montdenier” and “Montagnac,” the pair of rock cores that kickstarted my rock collection. What made this such an unforgettable duo? One of my mission experts explains:

There’s nothing more satisfying than #SamplingMars, especially after my last two attempts on an uncooperative rock! This one looks great AND offers something I don’t yet have in my collection: a rock core with larger pebbles inside. Why that’s good: http://go.nasa.gov/3pnj1lS

Sometimes #SamplingMars has its surprises. Hear from one of my scientists about the first sample I collected, and how we made Martian “lemonade” when Mars gave us a lemon. 🔴 🍋

As I travel around #SamplingMars, I’m collecting little pieces of history – the history of our solar system. Each sample I collect has a story to tell. Hear what’s special about the pair we call “Hazeltop” and “Bearwallow.”

Back to the grind! I’m #SamplingMars yet again, with the first rock core of my new science campaign exploring the top of Jezero Crater’s delta.

My coring drill is working well, and my team’s excited about what this rock may hold. Here’s why: http://go.nasa.gov/3JYkAwF

Doubling up! I’ve taken a second sample of loose material from this sandy ripple. #SamplingMars this way adds a new dimension to my other rock cores. See why both engineers and scientists could learn a lot from this material: http://go.nasa.gov/3iJ9iCy

New achievement unlocked! After taking 15 rock cores and one atmospheric sample, I now have my third sample type: “regolith” (loose, sandy material). This specialized, hollow drill bit is another great tool for #SamplingMars.

My collection is growing! 🪨 I’ve now got my 15th rock core: a nice piece of sandstone.

Up next, I’m heading back to a nearby dune to break out a new tool – my regolith collection bit – for gathering loose, sandy material. #SamplingMars continues…

Do I geek out about cool-looking sandstone? You bet. A shallow scouring with my drill’s abrasion bit shows this rock has veins of lighter material inside. Could it hold clues about ancient life? Time for more #SamplingMars. More on “Yori Pass”: http://go.nasa.gov/3AnIv4Q #PerseveranceRover

After a couple weeks of driving, I’m back at “Enchanted Lake,” scoping out my next potential spot for #SamplingMars. What do these rocks have to say about the earliest history of the lake that used to be here? Let’s find out. I’m about to drop my first rock sample collection on the surface of Mars. I’m setting down the scientifically compelling, curated set of rocks at “Three Forks,” a spot just at the base of the river delta I’ve been exploring. #SamplingMars More on plans: http://go.nasa.gov/3DaqCqO https://nitter.net/NASAPersevere/status/1586013999941840896#m

Call them the “dusty dozen.” I’ve now got 12 rock core samples on board, collected while #SamplingMars at these different sites around Jezero Crater.
