At the Melbourne Writers Festival some years I will listen to a writer talk, and so enjoy myself that I buy their book and am disappointed. Other years, I hear an author whose works I love, only to be disappointed by their live presentation. Creators can have a variety of skills and you may like some of their output and not others.
