in reply to lashman

@lashman Yeah, the suggest one works intermittently for me. I have a favorites list a mile long, but it often complains I don't have enough likes to generate a good list. I had to open the range of difficulties and some other settings to get results.
in reply to Melissa Avery-Weir

@melissa yeah, same here! dunno how to get that one working 😛 so i just do random sorts in my favourites list, usually gets the job done, haha

Data with destiny🖤
@NASAWebb's unprecedented observations of the exoplanet WASP-39 b read fingerprints of atoms and molecules, as well as signs of active chemistry and clouds! This Saturn-size giant orbits its star closer than Mercury is to our Sun. go.nasa.gov/3OqkAaI
#NASAExoplanets

Finding sulfur dioxide in WASP-39 b's atmosphere (a first) led to another first: seeing chemical reactions triggered by high-energy particles of starlight in an exoplanet atmosphere. Photochemistry is essential to processes on Earth key to life, like photosynthesis.
#NASAExoplanets

These results are also a promise of the science to come. Seeing such atmospheric detail bodes well for @NASAWebb to investigate all types of exoplanets, including small, rocky worlds like those in the TRAPPIST-1 system.
#NASAExoplanets

Webb’s latest data gives us the first molecular and chemical profile of a distant world, gas giant WASP-39 b. This bodes well for its ability to probe the atmospheres of small, rocky planets like in the TRAPPIST-1 system: go.nasa.gov/3i3Tlql
#JamesWebb
in reply to NASA

lovely data! JWST is an impressive feat. I hope it can get something remotely close to this for earth-like planets!

👇 WASP-39 b is an old friend! In August, Webb showed the first clear evidence of carbon dioxide in a planet outside our solar system. New data from the same planet also shows water, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, sodium and potassium.

Exoplanet spectroscopy is the most impressive thing JWST has done to me, and the thing I highlighted in my presentation to my intro astronomy class about JWST!

This feels appropriate for the second thing I've ever posted to mastodon.

infosec.exchange will be hosting the official account of CISA, The Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency, (part of Homeland Security).

My decision to block them and to call for more to as well will likely have serious professional repercussions for myself. However, this is an ACAB account, and the community I have here is one where "spot the fed" actually means something.

No feds on the fediverse.

Before you even consider donating more money to an already well-funded cis white men who's got a terrible track record when it comes to approving features that marginalized people have been asking for, maybe send that cash to marginalized folks who built community protection features like Marcia & Ginger, who are in much more precarious situations?

We're working with @ESA to plan one of the most ambitious feats ever attempted in space—bringing a Mars sample to Earth. The Mars Sample Return campaign could help answer a question rovers alone cannot: Was there life on Mars?

Here's how we plan to do it: mars.nasa.gov/msr/

"Though many standard engineering projects around the world continue to speed up water, the projects I saw all aim to slow water on land in some approximation of natural patterns. For that reason, I’ve come to think of this trend as the ‘Slow Water’ movement. Like the Slow Food movement founded in Italy...in opposition to fast food and all its ills, Slow Water seeks to remedy the ways in which redirecting and speeding water off the land causes problems."
