Adventures with Kangaroos.

I was walking to the shops when an adolescent male kangaroo hopped out from the side of the road. The joey then started hopping down the road zigzag fashion as cars had to stop for it. Finally, it hopped back off the road and...over the head of a mowing service guy who was bent over packing up his gear. "WHOA!" I seem to recall was his word. Obviously, too startled for a proper Australian expletive. The roo then disappeared into someone's back yard.

A small group of us had a bit of a laugh in relief. One fellow told us about how a tourist once had this sort of experience. She evidentally burst from her car shouting, you should keep better control of your animals!

After I picked up some milk and was walking home via the park, guess who came running toward me full tilt! The kangaroo was still spooked and no doubt looking for its mob. It eventually headed in a direction where it would find a mob, but I'm not certain that it would be the right mob. Here's hoping! (or hopping)

in reply to Muse

I love this and I'm glad it ended up with him headed in a better direction than in town.

Scientists are increasingly concerned that the coming decades will bring #climate conditions that make the future of #food production uncertain.

Enter cultivated meat, which doesn’t come from a chicken, pig or cow on the farm. Instead it’s grown in a lab directly from animal cells as a more sustainable alternative, requiring less water, fertilizer, land & energy with fewer emissions.

A new Serving Up Science is all about cultivated meat: youtu.be/GaX38aFAGSo

Are you willing to try it?

in reply to Sheril Kirshenbaum

In the show Westworld, one of many interesting elements I found of its near-future setting and storytelling was showing a plant where lab meat was mass produced. It wasn't used specifically for any story reason, they were merely supposing it would be a future workplace as typical as a supermarket.
reddit.com/r/westworld/comment…
in reply to Ceremus

@ceremus I thought the meat lab was where Bernard worked at that point? Really loved that show, even though they had to rush the ending.
in reply to Sheril Kirshenbaum

Correct! Opening of S3. I was very fond of the show and I'm sad it won't get the conclusion it deserves, but it seems nothing at WB/HBO will be safe with their current leadership.

Nextcloud runs on my NAS since years.
It is the best friend of all our mobile devices. Using apps with WebDAV support, important data are safely synchronised with Nextcloud and shared between all devices, i.e. on Android, calendar (aCalendar+), notes (Nextcloud Notes), passwords (Enpass), and pictures and documents the Nextcloud app.
Ubuntu notebooks with desktop integration, thunderbird, and as well Enpass.
Moving to a new smartphone was never easier.

Damn, the metal plate on the JSAUX clear back Steam Deck case sounds like quite a fire hazard if the reviewer could only take a few seconds touching it before "i feel like my skin is going to burn"

youtu.be/TH9w0Y7kVfg?t=684

in reply to Liam @ GamingOnLinux 🐧🎮

yeah I would buy one in a heartbeat if it didn't have that metal plate. I don't understand who thinks it's a good idea. Even if the stock thermals weren't enough (which they are), having an externally exposed heat sink is just bad product design.
