Texas state Sen. Creighton has filed a bill to prohibit all public colleges and universities in Texas from granting tenure.

If SB 18 passed, it would affect employees who start after Sept. 1, 2023. The bill is one of Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s top priorities.

Why yes, I’m on the couch and quite comfortable. Why do you ask?

This appeared several days ago, has apparently been downloaded and yet, despite automatic updates being enabled, it is still showing as a notification. The phone spends all night in a charger, so that shouldn’t be a limiting factor. Just more poor software.

in reply to John Gordon 📷

I think automatic updates apply to apps not to the OS. It’s different than MacOS, presumably because there are factors like battery level and connectivity involved. The “Install Now” link indicates that it has been downloaded and is ready to be installed IIRC.
in reply to Alan Sill

@AlanSill That automatic updates switch is on the OS update page though. This has to be for the OS (and it used to work).

There is another one for the App Store settings which does app updates (that works, except on devices with parental controls where it makes me update apps manually, one at a time, and enter both my password and the child’s password for each one).

in reply to Alan Sill

@AlanSill They’d explained it a while back. I can’t remember the explanation, but Craig I believe said the auto update does work but not for a week or two after the download.

Say hi to the ⁦@linode⁩ ⁦@Akamai⁩ crew ⁦@socallinuxexpo⁩ this year. Did you know you can deploy #nextcloud with one click on their servers?

Who owns your data? Come tell us at #scale20x ⁦@socallinuxexpo⁩ in the expo area. And maybe we can help you regain control over your data!

It's a bit overdue, but you can add Team and User icons in Luro now.

Very cool! We set our house at 65 in the winter and rarely run the AC in the summer. I've always wondered why I find 70 unbearably hot in the winter.

The Mississippi River Valley is home to most of the rice farms in the United States. 🌾🍚

This #Landsat 9 image shows the patchwork of flooded rice fields in southwestern Louisiana on February 3, 2023. go.nasa.gov/3LmwPFw
#NASAEarth

Louisiana is the nation’s third-largest producer of rice, after Arkansas and California.

In 2021, the Rice Belt (Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas) produced about 73%of all rice in the U.S. The map here shows rice-growing areas within these states (in blue) in 2022.
#NASAEarth

Flooded rice fields are easier to see in this false-color #Landsat image taken on February 3, 2023.

Inundated fields appear dark blue in the false-color image and vegetation is bright green. Raised levees used for water management form the grid pattern between the fields. 🌾
